The fantastic Irish Sopranos will be appearing with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra at Severance Hall on Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 @ 7:00 p.m. Presented by The Irish American Charitable Foundation, to benefit Ohio non-profit organizations, the talented trio will join one of Ohio’s true treasures, the Cleveland Pops. An event sure to sell out, and not to be missed.

West Side Irish American Club Announces Fish Frys Every Friday thru Lent & Live Entertainment too!

Dinner menu includes fried and baked fish, salmon, swordfish, burgers, muscles, Mac & Cheese, grilled cheese, shrimp and weekly specials, all followed by live Irish music in the pub. Interested in Playing Gaelic Football?

St. Pat’s Gaelic Football Club in Cleveland is currently recruiting for the upcoming season for both men’s and ladies football. Ideally, players should be at least eighteen years of age. Games are played between Memorial Day and Labor Day against teams from Cleveland, Detroit and Pittsburgh. If you are under 18 or have children interested in learning more about the game, St. Pat’s GFC is forming a youth program in February. This is open to both boys and girls aged seven and up. Massillon/Canton Ulster Project Announces Fundraiser

A fundraising concert for the Massillon/Canton Ulster project will be held April 3, 2008 at Lions Lincoln Theatre in downtown Massillon. Featured entertainment will be Maidens IV, a Celtic quartet from the Loudonville area.

The Ulster Project began in 1975 with a deceptively simple but brilliant premise—bring the Catholic and Protestant youth of Northern Ireland together in a safe, non-threatening atmosphere and let them get to know each other, far from the troubles that are a part of the fabric of their lives. Hundreds of years of sectarian violence and estrangement may not disappear overnight, but the longest journey begins with a single step. Mentor Hosts Fr. Tom Johns Emerald Ball

Fr. Tom Johns Emerald Ball at LaMalfa on Heisley Road in Mentor on March 8th, and the “Hooley in the Kitchen” on that Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM, is in honor of St. Aloysius Parish and those who have helped it through the years. The band “Good Clean Fun” will play at both events. There is a sumptuous buffet on Saturday and a corned beef dinner on Sunday. Youngstown Irish Americans in our Community Presentation

Sally Murphy Pallante will present “Irish Americans in our Community” as part of the Mahoning County Historical Society’s “History on the Go” series. At the event scheduled for March 10, 2008, from 6 to 7:30 PM at St. Patrick’s Church, Oak Hill Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, Murphy-Pallante will discuss the history of the Irish in the Mahoning Valley. In addition to reviewing “The Irish in Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley,” Pallante, President of the Irish American Archival Society which sponsored this work, will present interesting anecdotes and historical reflections of Irish families who were an integral part of the foundation of our community. Columbus Shamrock Club Irish Dance Lessons

Irish Dance Lessons are being taught at the Shamrock Club. The lessons are held on Tuesday nights: Beginners are from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Advanced Beginners are from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Intermediate are from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Adult lessons are from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The cost is $45 for children and $35 for adults per month. Contact Katie Regan at 279-3248 for more information.

Marietta, Ohio’s The Green is Soon to be Seen: the 27th Annual Irish Gathering

This year’s Gathering will be held Sunday, March 9, 2008, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Lafayette Hotel Ballroom in Marietta. The buffet will be a “Taste of Old Ireland,” and guests will be toe tapping to the Celtic flavor and fervor of the Athens-based Boys of the Hock, with sound augmentation by Third Street Music of Marietta. To further capture the moment, the Athens Irish Dancers, under the direction of Ms. Sue Farley, and accompanied by the Boys of the Hock, will perform traditional Irish dances featuring the colorful and symbolic Irish dance costumes.
