As you know, the great Tommy Makem passed away this past August 1st. I will have a tribute blog on the website in the next few days and a fuller tribute on the home page soon. Please feel free to add your comments, memories, stories or just thoughts. All are welcome. Check back after the holiday when you have a chance.
Have a Happy Labor Day! God Bless,
Hi all, Happy September!
I really appreciate all the support and comments you have shared with me since the 1st book launched. I know many of you are awaiting word on Book II – Festival Legends: Trads & Ceilis. As many of you know, a fantastic opportunity came along at the end of last year to join with Cliff Carlson, Publisher of Chicagoland’s Irish American News to produce Ohio’s own Irish paper. We launched the Ohio Irish American News in January (see issues at www.ianohio.com) and the reception to our paper has been fantastic. This, of course, caused a delay in producing the next book in the series, but now that the festival season is almost completed, entertainers are much more readily available and the paper is up and running, the book has started to gain steam.
To date, Book II includes Mick Moloney, Cherish the Ladies, Kilfenora Ceili Band, Liz Carroll, Eileen Ivers, Robbie O’Connell, Brock & Maguire, and more. A few surprises are also in the works. I hope to have it completed by the end of this year, and out near St. Patrick’s Day, God willing. Much of my other writing; short stories, poetry, website content and articles have also gotten wonderful response and the website will be revamped to include all that once the book is off to the presses.
Book III is called Festival Legends: The Balladeers and Book IV is called Festival Legends: Safe in the Hands of a New Generation.
Thanks for your patience, all your wonderful encouraging comments and most of all, for your continued support of all my writing. I hope to see you in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati in the next 3 weeks. Please stop by and say hello, if you get the chance.
